Sweet, spicy, crispy and utterly addictive; this Hot Honey Pizza recipe is perfect for cozy nights in or impressing friends over a glass of wine. With the perfect balance of salty cheese, spicy chilli and sweet honey, this pizza delivers on flavour and crunch. Even better? It comes together easily in the Crumble Air Fryer.
Handful of cornmeal (for shaping on benchtop)
For an extra crispy pizza base, it can be handy (but not essential) to preheat your Crumble Air Fryer for 5 minutes at 180Β°C before baking.
In a large bowl, mix warm water and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. Stir in four, salt, sugar and olive oil, and knead into a soft dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Sprinkle some cornmeal on your bench top and roll out your dough to about 20-25cm wide then transfer to a baking sheet.
Spread a thin layer of sauce, then follow with mozzarella, meat of choice and a light drizzle of quality EVOO.
Bake at 180Β°C for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and cheese bubbling.
While the pizza bakes, warm honey in a small saucepan or microwave in 30 second increments. Add in chilli flakes and season with salt over low heat.
Once your pizza is ready, drizzle generously with hot honey, scatter with fresh basil and enjoy!
This recipe works beautifully with roasted pumpkin, prosciutto, or even a cheeky sprinkle of blue cheese for added complexity. For a vegetarian option, we recommend spicy roasted chickpeas, zucchini or grilled eggplant.
