The addition of gochujang, a gorgeous deep red Korean chili paste offers the perfect harmony of sweet and spicy to this seemingly simple pasta dish. Complete with lashings of your favourite cheese for the ultimate comfort meal.
Ingredients
-
2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chilli paste)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup pasta water
- 1/4 cup parmesan
- 3 cups pasta
- 1 onion, diced
- Optional: 2 cups prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1 tsp chilli flakes
- 1 tsp mixed herbs
- Salt and pepper
Directions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain.
- While the pasta is cooking, in your Crumble Dutch Oven, sauté the garlic and onion on medium heat with butter.
- Once the garlic and onion have slightly softened, add the gochujang paste.
- Lower the heat and cook the gochujang for 1-2 minutes. The oil should turn into a red hue.
- Add heavy cream and seasonings and mix to combine the sauce.
- Add the cooked pasta and pasta water. Simmer until the sauce becomes thicker and/or begins to stick to the pasta.
- Turn off the heat and mix in the parmesan.
