Why are there colour pigments on my cookware?
Each Crumble piece is handcrafted which means each one has it's own unique characteristics. Pigments can occur during the colour adjustment process and is not a fault or flaw. It can sometimes be more obvious when crafting dutch ovens in lighter colours.
What utensils can I use with my cookware?
We recommend using wood or silicone utensils with any cookware. Using harsh materials like steel may damage the coating and create scratches. Please note that all dutch ovens are still food safe even if the enamel is damaged. Please contact our support team at suppport@crumble.co if you require assistance with severe cracks.
Is your cookware food-safe?
Yes, Crumble products have SGS certifications for: FDA - American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Compliance Policy Guides Sec.545.400 (CPG 7117.06) and Sec. 545.450 (CPG 7117.07) Pottery(Ceramics)-Leachable cadmium and lead Heat Test - Up to 350 Degrees without any cracks or discoloration CAL65 - 65(Superior Court of the State of California – County of San Francisco Case No. 938430) - Leachable Lead and Cadmium
How should I wash my cookware?
If you're low on time, you can use the dishwasher to clean any of our Crumble products.
To extend the life of your ceramic cookware, we do recommend a gentle hand wash with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge. Do remember to dry any type of cookware thoroughly after washing to avoid water stains.
Is Crumble cookware induction compatible?
Yes! All Crumble cookware can be used on gas, induction, electric, ceramic stoves and also in the oven.
Do I need butter or oil to cook with Crumble cookware?
Cast-iron cookware is not naturally non-stick, but does acquire non-stick properties overtime, also known as seasoning. As such, we recommend cooking with some oil or butter and on a low-medium heat as cast-iron retains heat very well and a high fire will ultimately cause sticking.
While ceramic cookware is naturally non-stick, sticking may still occur if the pan is left to heat dry from the start. As such, we recommend coating the interior using a paper towel and dab of oil.
Why do you recommend low-medium heat?
Firstly, cooking with low temperature helps to retain the nutritional value of foods and preserves its vitamins, making it easier to digest.
Secondly, (and especially with cast-iron cookware), the most common reason for food sticking is because the cookware is simply too hot. Cast-iron is superior in retaining heat compared to other types of cookware and generally does not need the same heat you would with stainless steel cookware.
I'm having induction issues - is this normal?
While our cookware is fully induction compatible, not all induction cooktops are compatible with us.
Please check with your manufacturer to clarify.
Can I use aluminium foil in the Air Fryer?
Yes you can, however please ensure that it doesn't touch the heating elements and ensure that it is weighted so that it doesn't blow around whilst cooking.
I'm using baking paper in my Air Fryer - but why is it burning?
If there is not enough food in the Air Fryer while cooking (e.g. 1-2 nuggets or fries), the exposed area can get too hot causing baking paper to burn. Additionally, if you are pre-heating your air fryer please do not pre heat with baking paper inside.
Do I have to pre-heat my Air Fryer?
To enjoy perfect results and even cooking, we would recommend pre-heating the air fryer. However, please do not pre heat your air fryer with baking paper inside the unit.
What's the difference between an Air Fryer and a traditional oven?
Both the Air Fryer and traditional convection oven both circulate hot air with a fan. However, as the Air Fryer is smaller in size it allows it to heat up much quicker and also does a better job at removing surface moisture for that incredible texture and crunch.
Care Tips
I've got a stubborn stain, now what?
When it comes to getting rid of stubborn stains, baking soda or Barkeepers Friend will be your best friend in these situations.
It's a simple method, fill your stained cookware with water and bring it to a rolling boil. Then, add in 2 tablespoons of baking soda and stir with a non-scratch spoon. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, using your non-scratch spoon to nudge the dirt off every so often. Turn off the heat and let the cookware cool down before rinsing with gentle soap and a non-abrasive sponge.
Why is my cookware staining brown?
Especially with gas, ceramic or electric stoves, if not kept clean, the oil and grease can be transferred to your pots and pans, staining them brown.
Similar with stains after oven use, it is typically due to leftover grease in your oven that was not cleaned beforehand.
If you think you require a more detailed inspection, please reach out to our team at support@crumble.co
Do I have to dry my cookware after washing?
Especially with our cast-iron cookware, we definitely recommend drying your cookware completely after washing to prevent water stains and any rust forming on exposed cast-iron areas such as the rim of the dutch oven.
Additionally, please refrain from soaking your cookware overnight.
