Frequently Asked Questions

How do I wash my Dutch Oven?

Although enamelled cast iron is dishwasher safe, hand washing with warm soapy water and a nylon scrub brush is recommended to preserve the cookware's original appearance.

If using a dishwasher, we recommend not placing the Dutch Oven on the bottom shelf.

Citrus juices and citrus-based cleaners (including some dishwasher detergents) should be avoided, as they can dull the exterior gloss.

Is the Dutch Oven tested for food-safety?

Yes, the Crumble Dutch Oven has SGS certifications for: FDA - American Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Compliance Policy Guides Sec.545.400 (CPG 7117.06) and Sec. 545.450 (CPG 7117.07) Pottery(Ceramics)-Leachable cadmium and lead Heat Test - Up to 350 Degrees without any cracks or discoloration CAL65 - 65(Superior Court of the State of California – County of San Francisco Case No. 938430) - Leachable Lead and Cadmium

What does the Lifetime Warranty cover?

The lifetime warranty covers faulty workmanship and/or materials when the product is used in normal, domestic conditions and in accordance with the care and use instructions provided.

It does not cover normal wear and tear (such as scratches/enamel coating chips, stains, commercial use or misuse of the product).

How should I store my Dutch Oven?

The Crumble Dutch Oven should be wiped and dried before storing in your cupboard. Alternatively you can leave it on your stove top.

What utensils can I use with my Dutch Oven?

You can use your Crumble Wood Fibre Spoon or a Wooden Spoon.

Please refrain from using steel as it may damage the enamel coating. Kindly note that the Dutch Oven is still food safe even if the enamel is damaged.

Where is the Crumble Dutch Oven made?

The Crumble Dutch Oven is made in the Hebei Province of China where our factory meets all ISO 9001 standards.

Why did we choose to manufacture in China?

After visiting and communicating with multiple factories in Europe and over 10 factories in China, we found China's top 3 factories were comparable in quality and in their handcrafting and manufacturing processes. Additionally, China's Hebei province is well known for producing cast iron/wrought iron products.

There isn't much difference between French and Chinese Cast Iron from a raw materials perspective, where the difference lies in the enamel coat. Labour and material costs when manufacturing in Europe are also roughly 50-60% greater than in China, allowing us to craft quality products at affordable prices for our customers.

Why are there colour pigments on the Dutch Oven?

Each Dutch Oven is handcrafted which gives each one its own unique characteristics. Colour pigments can occur sometimes because of the colour adjustment process. Kindly note that this is not a fault and cannot be avoided. It is usually more obvious when Dutch Ovens are produced in lighter colours.

What materials are the knobs made from?

The Classic and Cookie knobs are both made from 304-Grade Stainless Steel, are rust resistant and can withstand up to 260 Degrees Celsius.

Please make sure you use an oven mitt when handling your Dutch Oven cooking and up to 30 minutes after to avoid any burns as it retains heat well.

Is the enamel coating included in the lifetime warranty?

Cosmetic damage, such as scratches, dents, dings, scuffs, stains, color changes, minor paint chips, normal wear and tear, or other nonfunctional changes in the appearance of the product that occur during normal handling and use of Cookware by any party and which do not impair the functionality of the product as cookware.

Damage due to improper storage.

Replacement of any non-defective pieces in the Cookware (for example, if you purchase Cookware with multiple components and only one component is defective, then we will only replace the defective component).

This warranty is limited to the original consumer, or in the case of a gift, the original recipient of the Cookware, with proof of purchase and is not transferable. If the product was not purchased new from the manufacturer or an authorized dealer, distributor, or representative of the manufacturer, this warranty is null and void.

How do I claim for a Warranty?

To claim under this warranty firmly attach to the cookware your printed name, address and nature of the issue.

Return it with proof of purchase to Crumble Home Pty Ltd. For customers who live in Australia, please e-mail us at support@crumble.co

If the defect is deemed to have been caused by a manufacturing fault, the defective cookware will be replaced free of charge with a similar product or one of equivalent value if the original product is no longer in production. Please note that in the case of a set, only the faulty item will be replaced.
